Terms of Use
The rules for using KutumbLekha, written to be read. In short: your records stay yours, KutumbLekha keeps and reminds but does not handle money or give advice, and you decide who in your family sees what.
1.About these terms
These terms apply when you use KutumbLekha: the apps for Android and iPhone, the web app at app.kutumblekha.com and this website. By creating an account or using KutumbLekha you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use KutumbLekha.
2.What KutumbLekha is, and is not
KutumbLekha is a diary for your family's financial records. It helps you note money given and taken, loans, insurance, bills and warranties, recurring payments and documents, and reminds you of what is due.
KutumbLekha is not a bank, lender, broker, insurer or payment service. It does not:
- lend, borrow, collect or move money;
- buy, renew or claim insurance for you;
- give financial, tax, investment or legal advice.
Interest, EMI and warranty figures are worked out from what you enter, using the method the app shows (for example, every month counts as 30 days for interest). They are a record-keeping aid. Check important amounts with the other person, your lender or your insurer before you rely on them.
3.Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can read its codes can sign in as you.
- On phones, set a PIN and keep it to yourself. Tell us at support@kutumblekha.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- Give your real email address, and keep one account per person.
4.Your records and documents
What you add stays yours. You allow us to store, copy and show it only so that KutumbLekha can work for you and for the members of the Spaces you share it with.
You are responsible for what you add. Add only information and documents you have the right to keep, including details about other people, such as the person you lent money to or a policy nominee.
You can export your records at any time (Settings → Export my data). Keep your own copy of documents that matter, such as original policies and bills.
5.Shared Spaces
- The owner of a Space decides who joins it and what each member can do. Invite only people you trust with those records.
- Records you add to someone else's Space belong to that Space. If you leave, are removed, or delete your account, they stay with the Space's owner.
- When an owner deletes a Space, every record and document in it is deleted for all its members.
6.Reminders
We work to send every reminder on time, but delivery depends on your phone, its settings, its internet connection and the notification services of Google and Apple. A late or missed reminder can happen. Do not rely on KutumbLekha alone for payments, renewals or deadlines where a delay would cost you money.
7.Fair use
Please do not:
- use KutumbLekha for anything unlawful, or to harass or deceive anyone;
- upload harmful files or content you have no right to share;
- try to reach other people's data, or test, break or overload the service;
- copy, resell or build a competing service from KutumbLekha.
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk.
8.The service
KutumbLekha is free to use today. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you the price before anything is charged, and nothing is charged without your agreement.
We improve KutumbLekha over time and may change or remove features. KutumbLekha needs an internet connection, and may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. If we ever close the service, we will give you notice and time to export your records.
9.Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time (Settings → Account → Delete account). What is deleted, and what stays in other people's Spaces, is described in our Privacy Policy.
10.Responsibility
KutumbLekha is provided as it is. To the extent Indian law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by relying on figures or reminders in the app, by information you or other members entered, or by someone using your email or phone to reach your account. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under Indian consumer law.
11.Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a problem, write to us first and we will try to resolve it. Disputes that cannot be resolved go to the courts of India.
12.Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update the date at the top. We will tell you in the app or by email before an important change applies. Continuing to use KutumbLekha after that means you accept the new terms.
